Frequently asked questions

Questions about ski courses

  • Beginner courses at Snowsport Kirchberg always start on Sundays and Mondays. More advanced skiers can join mid-week if a suitable group is running — just ask at our office at the Fleckalmbahn.

  • The meeting point is always our office right at the Fleckalmbahn valley station, Klausen 6 in Kirchberg in Tirol. Lessons run from 9:30 to 11:30 and from 13:00 to 15:00. There is parking at the Fleckalmbahn car park, and the ski bus from Kirchberg, Reith and Kitzbühel stops directly outside.

  • Either online through our booking shop or in person at our office at the Fleckalmbahn, at the latest the day before. We need the advance registration to sort the next day's groups. Our office is open daily from 08:30 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.

  • Snowsport Kirchberg is a Dutch-speaking ski school in Tirol: we teach in German, Dutch and English. Our team includes instructors from Austria, the Netherlands, England and Germany. If you would like a Dutch-speaking instructor, let us know when you register.

  • Courses run in any weather. If the Fleckalmbahn is out of service, we take the bus to another lift in the KitzSki area and the lesson goes ahead as normal. Courses always take place – the lift company runs many lifts in the valley.

  • At the Snowsport Kirchberg children's ski school, children join regular courses from the age of 4. For children aged 3 and up we run taster courses on Sundays and Mondays, provided the child is physically ready. With the youngest we always start with a trial day — if it goes well, you simply extend.

  • On our children's practice slope right beside the Fleckalmbahn, with a magic carpet and a rope lift. Our trained instructors and childcare staff teach skiing there in a playful way before heading out onto the KitzSki slopes.

  • On the first day it is good if you come along and meet the instructor in person. After that, experience shows children concentrate better when their parents are not standing right beside them — watching from a distance is always fine. During lessons they are fully looked after by our team at the Fleckalmbahn.

  • At midday the children go to a restaurant together with their group and their instructor. They choose from several children's dishes and get a drink with it. That way children stay with Snowsport Kirchberg all day and you can keep skiing. Lunch with a drink costs € 15 per day in the 2026/27 season. Please hand the amount to the instructor each morning, in exact change if possible.

  • Yes, the Snowsport Kirchberg children's ski race always takes place on Thursday. Every child receives a medal and a certificate, both included in the children's ski school price.

  • Yes, adults learn to ski from scratch at Snowsport Kirchberg — from standing on skis for the first time to the first turns on a blue run. Beginner courses start on Sundays and Mondays. If a group feels uncomfortable, private lessons usually get you there faster.

  • Yes, we teach at several ability levels, up to moguls, powder and off-piste. After a short demonstration run at the Fleckalmbahn we place you in the right group. We also make use of the KitzSki facilities, including the DC Snowpark, the Family Park at the Kitzbüheler Horn, the speed run and the wave track.

  • Snowsport Kirchberg teaches snowboarding from the age of 8, with no upper age limit. Everything from the first day on the board to carving technique is covered — all we ask for is a sporting attitude.

  • Yes, freestyle and powder are part of the Snowsport Kirchberg programme. In a group course how far we take it depends on the group's level — if you want to work on it specifically, private lessons are the better option.

  • In a private lesson a Snowsport Kirchberg instructor focuses entirely on you — bookable for two, three or four hours. It suits a fast start, nervous skiers, targeted technique work, and guests who want to get to know the KitzSki area. Private lessons can only be booked on request by e-mail to info@snowsportkirchberg.at, as they are very individual. Please tell us who the lesson is for, their age, language and skiing ability.

  • Yes, private lessons at Snowsport Kirchberg also work with family or friends. There is a surcharge for each additional person, which you will find on our prices page. The group should ski at a similar level, otherwise the lesson loses its advantage.

  • On request and with enough participants, Snowsport Kirchberg also teaches avalanche transceiver safety courses, snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing, freestyle, off-piste, funpark and slopestyle, as well as courses for youth groups. Get in touch early so we can put a group together.

Questions about group allocation

  • On the first day everyone skis a short demonstration run on our practice slope at the Fleckalmbahn. We then sort participants by ability and age. It takes only a few minutes and makes sure nobody is out of their depth or held back.

  • In the Snowsport Kirchberg children's ski school a group has a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 12 participants, with 9 or fewer as our target. For 3- to 5-year-olds we aim for 6 children per instructor. All courses require at least 3 participants.

  • If they ski at roughly the same level, yes — tell us on the first day during the allocation at the Fleckalmbahn and we will accommodate it wherever possible. If their abilities differ noticeably we advise against it: the stronger child would constantly be waiting, and the weaker one would feel under pressure.

Questions about ski rental

  • Right at the Fleckalmbahn, from our partners Skisport Andi and Intersport Kitzsport — both a few steps from the Snowsport Kirchberg office. They rent out skis, snowboards, boots, poles and helmets, and both offer online reservation.

  • No, equipment is rented separately from our partners at the Fleckalmbahn. The course price covers the ski school's own services — our prices page lists exactly what.

  • In Tirol, helmets are compulsory for children under 15 on organised ski slopes. Without a helmet your child cannot take part in the course. Helmets are available from our rental partners at the Fleckalmbahn and are usually part of a complete set.

  • Skis or a snowboard, boots, poles and a helmet, plus warm ski clothing, gloves and goggles. Buy your lift pass in advance from Bergbahn Kitzbühel. Come to the office at the Fleckalmbahn a little early on the first day so there is time for the group allocation.

Questions about prices

  • The Snowsport Kirchberg children's ski school price includes the practice lift with magic carpet and rope lift, supervision during lessons and the certificate at the children's race. The lift pass and rental equipment are not included. Supervision itself is part of the lesson; lunch and a drink are charged at € 15 and are not included in the course price.

  • No, the Snowsport Kirchberg course price does not include a lift pass — you buy it separately from Bergbahn Kitzbühel. Children up to the age of 6 do not need a lift pass. You will find current rates at bergbahn-kitzbuehel.at.

  • Group ski courses at Snowsport Kirchberg are bookable from one to five days; private lessons by the hour for two, three or four hours. The longer the course, the lower the cost per day — the full scale is on our prices page. Snowboard group courses can only be booked for 3 days; if you would like more days, please ask at the office. If an instructor is available and there are at least 3 participants, a fourth day is also possible.

  • Snowsport Kirchberg refunds the course fee on presentation of a certificate from a local doctor in case of illness or injury. To keep the risk low for you, we start the youngest children with a trial day and you only extend once it is going well.
